Neutering the Cat II

I woke up early this morning and took "Jack" to the veterinarian in North Logan. As mentioned previously, I felt a great deal of discomfort throughout this whole episode, but this morning I reasoned with myself that it was right thing to do no matter how queasy or guilty it made me.

After dropping the cat off, however, I got a call from an assistant to the veterinarian. Ever so politely- as to not offend my intelligence, she informed me that after taking a closer look at the cat, the doctor had determined that "Jack" was in fact, a female!

By the time she finished I was laughing hysterically. For not only had I become absorbed by the neutering procedure, which had horrified me completely, but I felt like I was betraying another "bro." A female! I couldn't believe it.

I had often been puzzled by "Jack." The cat's anatomy never resembled that of a male's, and I continually asked my wife if "Jack" was just underdeveloped or perhaps, not a male cat. Each time, however, Vanessa assured me that the cat was male and growing normally. After all, she had always had cats and knew everything about them (I am smiling while writing this). And here am I, the guy who has never owned a dog or cat, or any other "fuzzy" creature for that matter... and I was the first one to recognize a problem. Humorously enough, it took the vet to really see that "Jack" has been misunderstood for all this time.

In the end, we agreed to have the cat spayed; an idea which didn't really affect me like the whole neutering thing. And we are presently brainstorming new names for "Jack," and so far we are considering "Jackie" and "Jacklyn."

Ha! I couldn't resist adding this funny story.
